colored eggs {an easter tradition}

we spent some time coloring easter eggs last week.
nboy and ggirl loved it.

if you look at the pictures,
it looks like it was a perfect, peaceful, and enjoyable venture.
but, in the spirit of keeping things real....
{with three small children under age 5}
it went more like this:

mr. m. arrived home to dozens of boiled eggs,
a dinner meal of pancakes half cooked,
dirty laundry scattered across the kitchen floor-
{it almost made it to the laundry room!},
piles of dirty dishes in the sink,
a screaming rbaby,
crying ggirl,
a frustrated nboy and an unhappy mama.

thankfully, he jumped in and rescued us
from our collective meltdowns!
and............walla!
we got our easter eggs colored- tear free.

{hip, hip, hooray, for you- mr.m!}

so, aside from rbaby wanting to drink the colored water,
nboy wanting to eat the eggs-
{we still had not eaten our pancake dinner yet},
and ggirl insisting on dropping her own eggs
in large glasses of spillable dye water....
our eggs turned out beautifully!

another successful easter egg dying done.

oh, and I learned something new:
the key to brilliantly colored eggs?
a few tablespoons of white vinegar in the dye water.
