thanks day {part 2}

we were delighted to share our thanksgiving with these lovely folk,
this year.




i'd never made a turkey before.
and, ended up with a 25 pounder which was a tricky start-
since i decided to brine it.


pulling it in and out of the bag and pans was quite the event.
{it's a good thing mr.m. is so precise- raw turkey finagling might be his new calling.}




i used pw's brine recipe...
and her turkey cooking

because i love her blog,
and because she has lots of pictures to help you as you go.


it turned out slightly golden,
a little broiled,
but sooo lovely inside.




i do believe, brining covers a multitude of dryness.




these girls whipped up a pinterest recipe of auntie s.
apple pie...inside apples.




it was novel...and delicious too.




in between checking emails, and pinterest, and of course...facebook...




and snuggles with aunties...




and a much needed run in the brisk outdoors....
{for the little people}




we got the flowers together...




put out an oven fire....




had a time of remembrance,
and a time of thankfulness,
and a time of sharing with one another what Christ has done in our lives this year........




got the little people settled at the children's table....




and at last- were ready to enjoy the feast.




we are thankful for this year.
so thankful.


and mindful as well of the high calling...having been given so much
{and i don't mean earthly possessions},


but that which we've received in soul, in health,
in family, in friendship.
