this year we incorporated a new fall celebration weekend tradition...
making our own caramel apples.
we used pw's easy, but thoughtful recipe-
and she offered some great tips on how to make that caramel stick to those waxy apples!
she recommended cream to thin the caramel a bit,
and salt to spruce up the sweetness.
if you could not find the already unwrapped caramel melts {like me},
then draft those sweet offspring into work- and of course they ate a few for "payment".
do go crazy with the toppings.
we used kosher salt.
crushed pretzels.
mini m&m's.
flaked coconut.
chocolate chips.
chopped pecans.
do bathe your children before you allow them to stick slippery apples,
into sticky warm caramel.
do practice patience,
and teamwork- when the entire plate of mini m&m's topples off the counter...
{hey- surprise snacks for later when you're scraping caramel off your floor!}
learn from your spills.
and do have your children press their caramel apples into topping's,
on your already sticky floor.
and if you're with preschoolers,
do make sure to enjoy those delicious apples,
armed with wet wipes....
and then re-bathe the children already bathed,
less they become stuck within their bedding from all their stickiness.

What fun! And you are brave, Mrs. M...Very brave!
