while up north,
mr.m. asked me out on a date.....
to his old stomping grounds.
how's a girl to say no....to a campus man?
{even though it involved a campus walk in 100 degree weather}
{and, a tour of his old engineering building}
{and, a tour of the union}
{and, a driving tour of his most traveled paths}
{and, a moment of silence as we passed the stadium}.....
{so okay- we didn't have a moment of silence for the stadium- but it is-quite imposing. i will say that.}
and so i went- and our baby girl went along too.
and we did really have a
after date day -
and a mutual agreement that we look just a teeny bit older than the undergrad's leisurely skipping around campus in their own self regulated world...
we confirmed- we have indeed traded in that stage in life....
as we loaded our three kids {and backpacks, sippy cups, hats, sun screen, bug spray, water spray and strollers} and headed to the zoo.
ggirl got to visit "her" lioness.
{whom she promptly growled back at thru the looking glass...}
rtoddlergirl enjoyed the zoo from the stroller-
although that was not her first choice.....
{but she IS in the run-off-from-my-family-stage.....and it was simply too hot out- to run after her.}
we loved having papa coach, and grandma nene along....
{we love their zoo SO much!}
we checked off another thing on our summer list: ride a train.
it was rtoddlergirl's first ride {that she was aware of}, and she was a little nervous...
still, we managed to evade any tears- and she almost fell asleep- in the end.
and, these boys....well- i'll just say.....they keep it interesting & lively!
we headed home- after our 4th of july weekend-
full of sugar, full of new silly giggles & memories, and a car full of happy dirty laundry....
the next week- we found the farm movie on you tube.
oh my.
that nearly took over my childrens' minds.......they hummed the song- they quoted it....they begged to watch those kansas farm boys over and over again.
and last- but not least- i grew one year more in wisdom, patience and thanksgiving....
um....right! {prayerful wishing.....there}
no truly- i am confident the one thing- i actually accomplished was getting older- again.
another year.
and the blessing of celebrating with these beautiful three- and mr.m....
well, those four persons...that's truly where all my prayerful wishes are focused....
so they made my birthday.... perfectly birthday!
{insert grateful sigh here}.
