this blog post is long with fun, sweat, {a few tears}
and our favorite northern state- nebraska.
we started out our trip- with a 4th parade.
it's been on our summer list of things to do.
because earlier- when we created our list,
my poor children said..."mama, what's a parade?"
"is it like that time on curious george,
where they walked in the park and threw fruit at people?"
um........oh my.
"no, kiddos.
it's like a show.
people walk in the streets, there's costumes, candy,
and firetrucks."
"oh right mom! like on that other curious george,
where they followed the boat in all the traffic, in the big city, and found chewing gum?"
um......no again, my dears. {must go to parade this summer!}
i must admit.
i always find being compared to curious georges' happenings-
pretty priceless.
such this sweet littles stage of life. {right?}
so, no matter the heat-
it must have been 100 degrees in the shade-
we were going to get our parade on!
and these kind grandparent folks braved the heat with me.
mr.m's gigi was even along too {great grandma! she's amazing...},
but i missed grabbing her lovely picture.
{sorry, gigi!}
so- the parade was a sweet success {complete with candy & ice pops},
and even a princess for ggirl {miss nebraska}.
oh, and did i mention there were storm troopers there too?
i thought nboy was going to faint in a heat caused star wars conniption.
once- my children had been properly paraded,
we headed home for a fabulous summer cool off,
and fill up.
sweet corn was well represented, like it is at every event in mr.m's family.
{yes, it's that good.}
delicious food smells mixed well,
with the little people's giggles out on papa coach's slip n slide
{on his award worthy lawn oasis}.
auntie k's gorgeous apple pies....
and gigi's legendary potato salad {one of my personal favorites}.
and, sweet uncle l., even pooled with rbaby girl.
{lot's of giggles there from that girl toddler}
next, we were off the boom bang tent.
there was lots of looking, smelling {nboy}....and reading labels.
yes. that would be my mr.m....although he was in like-company, since all the men in his family are alike...and read fireworks labels too.
trying to decide what exactly this one did....or how loud this one was.
and then some final debate-
on getting the most bang for your buck...and more label reading.
and then off to the show.
it was a success....and there was lots more label reading.
label reading to set it up-
label reading if it didn't work right...
one thing's for sure- mr. m. loves reading label directions.
and it's particularly humorous to me....since the label reading lovers are a bit sparse in my family.
which may or may not have resulted in large crowds of people leaping up and running for their lives out of the way.......
while playing with fireworks, when i was a child......
but, that's just a maybe....those memories are quite smokey and vague, really. {wink}
and we'll wrap our sweet 4th package-
with our own toddler usa girlie.
she's as sweet as sugar- this toddler girl!
a happy 4th.
the end.
