happy birthday

today we're celebrating my birthday.
it's been super sweet already.
mr.m. started out the perfect way-
with a cup of coffee from this colorful mermaid.



that was followed by the most perfect cards in the world:
a "princess leia mommy" card from nboy,
a "polish" card from ggirl {nail painting},
& a thoughtful note from my mr.m.



we had a birthday coffee cake,
complete with melted birthday candles
{that was a first....it was super hot from the oven...
but- hot enough to melt birthday candles? who knew?}
so ya know- a little wax never hurt anyone- at least i hope not,
since we ate it anyway.



and then a sweet breathed baby kiss and hug from rbaby,



and melodious, "happy birf-day" song-
{a perfect start to the day for this mama}
and of course it was also super fun to open my birthday gift-
a pair of wellies i've had my eye for a while.

"you want rain boots?"- mr.m. asked me.
"are you sure? really, rain boots?"
"like big, rubber, rain boots? as your only birthday gift?"
and then he gave me that look.
the one that makes me wonder "am i finally going batty?"

but- i recouped my confidence.
yes. i wanted rain boots.
but i like calling them: wellies.
{it just sounds more sophisticated}.

"mr.m. there's nothing like a darling pair of wellies-
to make a mama smile on those days,
i have to trudge back and forth
in the rain and snow with tiny ones."

when i opened them, nboy told me
"i like your big, rubber boots, mom. they're neat. can i try them on?"
{sigh}
and so that's how i got a pair of
very chic wellies big, rubber, mama, rain boots
for my birthday.
