how to dress a toddler for snowplay

**BEFORE BEGINNING TAKE MANDATORY POTTY BREAK**
step #1: gather numerous, small, mismatched clothing items.
step #2: dress older brother first {he can stand the cold longer}
and you need to "time" each of their exit's correctly,
as they will want to come inside,
at the same time,
regardless of how long they've been playing.
step 5: talk about why Cinderella has mice that talk in her house.
redirect to the task at hand.
remind toddler that her brother is waiting to play with her outside.
{he's been outside about 7 minutes at this point}
{step 6: try painfully hard to get thumbs in "thumb hole."
remind toddler to stand still. {um...not so much!!}
remind toddler to try not to wiggle hands so the gloves fall off.
patiently replace thumbs,
in thumb hole,
when toddler wiggles them out.}
step 7: talk more about Cinderella and now,
answer questions about the "naughty cat"
step 8: check on RBaby.
redirect toddler from her wander the toy room.
remind her she's going outside, to the snow!
not playing in the playroom.
oh, and............................
put her socks & gloves back on again-
as she's removed them in
the ten seconds it took for me to check on the baby.
step 10: answer door knock of older brother
NBoy: "mom, it's been a while. I don't want to play by myself."
Me: "She's coming right now, buddy. Just a few more minutes!"
NBoy: "It sure takes YOU a long time to get her dressed, mom!"
step 11: turn on bouncer for Rbaby who is fussing-
while watching toddler like a hawk
to make sure she doesn't begin to remove clothing items.
step 12: more talking and requests
GGirl: "I thirsty, mama. I want a drink!"
Me: "No, we already had a drink.
We'll have something when you come back inside."
GGirl: "Well, I'm getting tired, mama."
{um.....no kidding, sweet girl. this is quite the effort! I'm tired too}
step 13:refocus.....p.l.e.a.s.e........ we're so close.
{18 minutes later- from Step 1}
step 15:
open door and announce to older brother,
his playmate is ready to play....at.last.
hear his loud holler and whoop.
then hear.......the inevitable.
yes.
it's true.

classic, toddler.
classic.
