ask and receive

"Ask and it will be given to you." Matthew 7:7

We have been working on the ABC Bible Memory format at our house (a great idea from my friend Heidi- Thanks Heidi!). The verse this week was the above Matthew 7:7- and wow, how this verse has been ringing true at our house!

We were so thrilled to sell our home, something we had been asking God for, as a family, for short time. I feel like NBoy kind of "gets" the idea of asking God to answer our prayer requests, but at the same time when asked "what would you like to pray and ask God for?" He mainly focuses on physical things and says: "Firetrucks, ambulances and a police car." We have agreed to let him ask for these things- but we say instead we're also going to pray for the actual firemen, ambulance drivers and policemen. But, without a doubt, whatever NBoy requests to pray for- he confidently believes his prayer request will be answered. Right now, I know he mainly believes his physical, earthly, parents might answer his request by buying him a firetruck or policecar.

But it's been a good reminder to me, that I should be as confident that my Heavenly Father will answer my prayer requests (at His will and in His way), big or small- He will be faithful to answer.

Sweet Sigh.....these childhood stage of faith are so simple and beautiful.
