the dolly & limbo party

celebrations.
i love them.
they only come once a year- so i save my super amazing mama energy starbucks gift cards,
so i can load up on sugar + espresso, during Party Week.

in addition to this- i must honestly say i've broken up with pinterest.
{gasp}
but- it's complicated.
literally.

you should try searching your childs party theme on pinterest.
i'll just say....there is such a thing as too many good ideas.

anyhoo.
for preschool- g's class could not have cupcakes this year-
which was the only thing she wanted to bring.
but, to my delight she showed her almost-four-years,
and happily compromised with "rice krispie cupcakes."

she piled them high with jelly beans and sprinkles,
cut them out,
and carefully -expertly- placed them in princess cupcake holders.

she's loved american girl- since our chicago trip.
and, so she begged for an american girl tea party birthday.
we asked each of her friends to bring along their most special dolly friend,
and made matching girl doll t'shirts for our party activity.

her almost-four-girl-self worked hard, along side her mama,
prepping for her party.

party work may be one of my favorite things about throwing a birthday party for my kids.
i've found, working together on their party is often a perfect environment for some special one on one time.

and- so she stamped out heart fruit.

and put together cupcake holders.
she choose pink lemonade,

and pb&j heart sandwiches.

she colored birthday poster letters,
and taped turquoise glitter tulle to anything she could.

she searched our house for every doll item she could find to put in the "doll house room."
extra clothes, baby bottles, baby toys....

she helped cut up hearts for tshirts,
and paste iron on stuff on the back.

and so, we did dolly hair with clips & combs.

nene ironed on our heart decals....

and alli zagged around them.
{eek! thx girls- couldn't have done it without you!}

we had birthday girl uncle hugs,

and we played her favorite requested game....of limbo.
{or jump over the limbo pole in this case....}

older leaping brothers, eagerly joined in,

and we prayed for her party day.

and we sang a birthday song.
