homemade {new years day} donuts

it's a bit of a tradition at our house to make
homemade donuts on new years day.

so this year,
we rolled up our sleeves again...



and pounded out some homemade donut dough.
{i followed this recipe}



if you've never smelled sweet donut dough
{as it fries in a vat of hot oil},

or sprinkled powdered sugar over a donut,
{and heard the hot oil make the sugar crackle as it hits the browned outside}

and if you've never popped that sugar coated donut in your mouth
{so hot it singes your tongue}.....



then you must, must, must put "become a donut fryer" on
your 2012 to do list.

once a year....just once a year...

we fill up our fry daddy

and eat powdered sugar, sprinkled donut holes,

for

every

meal.
