our shepherd boy

we took these two adorable sisters,
to see their big brother in his preschool christmas play.

rbaby

they were so excited to see him.
ggirl kept saying "i will scream for him when he gets on the stage!"

ggirl

i was a little nervous she might actually follow thru with her enthusiasm,
so we quickly went over a few "cheering in church" guidelines before we went in.

sis

our shepherd boy was all smiles on his way to the manger.

nboy

we adore this part of the program.
they tell the children to look out in the audience and find the faces that love them.
then they encourage waves back and forth.

dozens of beeming preschooler faces waving frantically at parents +
enthralled parents waving back....

it is the sweetest of moments.

our shepherd boy has always been our child- who's comfortable up front.
this year he told me:

 "mom, i listened close to my music teacher."

"watch my lips when i sing, mom."
"i know every word."

we did.
and he did, too.

nboy and ggirl had already been discussing the after the show christmas cookies,
since they remembered them from the year before.

nboy wanted to know if he could have:
"a lot of cookies mom, since next year i'll be at the big school."

{gulp. sniff}

i nearly agreed to let him eat his weights worth.
he is right.
this is his last preschool christmas party, after all.

but...

this mama cannot think on those things like our shepherd boy going kindergarten,
too much yet.

{i'll save that for the new year.}

instead we'll just savor these moments,
like dear rbabys', double armed, big brother hug.

{sigh. treasuring it up.}
