remembering our family christmas

this year we celebrated our own family christmas super, super, early.
as in december 11th, early.
but......it was a great idea!
one we'll continue for sure.
it was just nice to have a whole saturday for just us.
to keep doing our own traditions.
starting new ones.
remembering old ones.
here's a few of ours from this year.

tradition #1: re-enact the christmas story
{old tradition: my own family did this on our
christmas and I adored it as a child}

mr. m. narrated the story.
"mary and joseph" rode in on a stick horse donkey.
"baby jesus" was played by Rbaby.
it was a modified version.
there were other comments added to the story like:
me: "nboy. please don't hit Rbaby with the horse stick."
and
nboy: "i'd rather be a wiseman they got to ride camels and carry money."
and
ggirl: "is Rbaby the real baby Jesus?"

rbaby was more than happy to play her part.
she just flinched every now in then,
whenever nboy's stick horse got a little skittish.
tradition #2: slippers for christmas morning
{new tradition: um...because with lots of wood floors in our new house...
and our economical efforts with heating= it's a bit chilly in here.}

tradition #3: lots of cuddle & playtime in front of a roaring fire.
{new & old: who doesn't love cozy, uninterrupted, unending,
hang out time in your pj's playing with gifts in front of a warm fire.}

tradition #4: family pictures in front of the tree
{old tradition: mr.m. and I have done this every year since we've
been married. new traditon twist: now it's apparently a silly
christmas picture. not my preference.
but, mr.m. insists on encouraging it...as you can see for yourself.
................that ringleader of a guy.....mr.m.!}
